In a land far, far away… yeah, I’ve got nothing.
In case anyone was wondering, I am still cycling, still sewing and still working/living in DC. As far as new things go I now have a second job (Whole Foods is sucking up all my money and I’ve got to be able to support that organic habit of mine.) and it’s a lot of fun. I’m working with girls my age and that is a huge bonus. People my own age! I was beginning to wonder if I’d ever make friends and now here I am making friends and getting paid for it. Ha! I’ve fooled the man. The only problem is that this store has amazing clothing and jewelry and I want to buy it all. There goes that extra paycheck…
I’m off to my friend Brian’s wedding in two weeks and am looking forward to catching up with all of my friends. Seems like the only time I get to see them is when someone gets married. No, I’m not next in line. Thank god!
Gee, It’s been so long since I posted I don’t think I’ve even mentioned my amazing, green baby grand piano. Yup, you heard me. I own a baby grand piano. It’s fabulous. My life is fabulous (except for the working two jobs thing, whatever).
You know what else is fabulous? Sleep. Something I can’t get enough of. Night!

I’m hanging about, putting off getting dressed for cycling and I thought “Hey, why not post something?” I know it’s been a long time since I last posted and everyone thought that was the end of me but maybe, just maybe, it’s not.
So here I am, in Washington, DC writing my first post since December. I’m not going to go into the hows and whys - if you’re reading this it’s probably because you know me and therefore you already know what happened.
Actually, I’m only in my apartment temporarily as I’m house sitting for a woman in Georgetown. Talk about living the life for a week. I’ve been playing out scenarios where she comes home and the locks are changed and I’ve taken residence and stock piled for a siege. Wasn’t there a time when that was done? Didn’t people used to try and take someone else’s castle, I mean home? Those were the days.
That was fun. Now it’s time to dress myself for my favorite activity - CYCLING!

Yes, you read that correctly. This year my friends and I are celebrating with Greek food. I mean really, isn’t it about time the menu changed?
Opa!

To protect one from falling autumn foliage. “Ping! Ping! Ping!” went the acorns. At one point I had a leaf stuck in the vents of my helmet. My very own headdress.
(For those wondering today’s bike trip was 44 miles)

It’s raining so much I was thinking about building an ark. You know, one of those pre-fab ones from IKEA where they send the tools and funny little picture instructions along with the kit. I saw a “Just Add Water!” version from Wal-mart but that sounds too much like those so-called “Sea-Monkeys.” I fear I would end up with an ark that would be so small I would need a microscope to make sure it wasn’t a piece of dirt floating in some water. I think the extra $5.99 spent on the IKEA version will be well worth it. Plus, I’ll have the satisfaction of knowing that I, ahem, “built” it.
If you would like to join me on my nicely veneered, particle board boat just drop me a line. I can promise there will be lots of organically grown vegetables and two of every liquor! Bring it on, Rain!

I can’t stop eating delicious Nestle Toll House chocolate chips.
Now I just sit back and wait for free bags of chocolate chips, right? Nestle, are you out there?

As I was browsing the BBC news website (Chris, you need to tell me how to make a word a link) I found an article about the Spanish Association of Fashion Designer’s voluntary ban of models with a BMI of less then 18. The article went on to say that that would be about 30% of the models. I was so happy to read this article, it seems that someone is finally taking a positive step forward towards promoting health, not skinniness. It’s all fine and good to say things need to change but this is the first time, in my memory, that a large organization is doing something tangible. Go Spain!

I would like to share what wisdom I have gained from having those horrid teeth removed and it is: pain pills work. (a close second was ‘don’t wait till your past your teens’ but I think I chose the right one)
I like to think of myself as a person with a high pain tolerance, I mean, I stab myself hundreds of times with a needle each week. So I figured that I would get these stupid teeth removed, lay about, take some advil and just enjoy my two days of sick leave. Wrong. I ended up with a dry socket (my oral surgeon said this happens when your old, ie, no longer a teenager) and with so much pain that I was counting down the minutes to when I could take the next pain pill. I didn’t sleep, I barely ate, only when high on painkillers did I think life was ok. There was a brief moment on Saturday where I thought things were going ok. What a fool I was.
After much crying and not being happy over the weekend I took off another day from work and got an appointment with my oral surgeon. Unfortunately, I had to wait nearly all day for the appointment and I decided not to take any pills so I could tell the doc exactly what was hurting and not just stare off into space with a dazed look. Mr. Dr. man chided (is that a word?) me for not healing and then put a magic clove ointment dressing thing into my gum that not only numbs the area so it can heal comfortably but fills my mouth with the delightful taste of cloves. Who needs to brush their teeth when their breath is always fresh? It’s like I have a tic-tac wedged into the hole in my gum. Yea!
So now I’m no longer crying or moping and things are looking up for me. I’m going to be in a photo shoot for CW tomorrow. They hired me even after seeing me prior to getting my clove implant. Brave souls. Or desperate. Either way works for me.
