YESSSSS!!!!!

Monday, April 25th, 2005

Big news! I got the job in Colonial Williamsburg! I can’t even begin to describe how excited I am, I’m jittery I’m so excited. I’m thrilled to have just graduated and to have gotten a job in my field. No waitressing for me! This is why I came to Halifax and slaved away, so I would be qualified to work with two of my favorite things - History and historical clothes!
I’ve Imed and emailed and called so many people I can’t keep track!
Tomorrow I head home and saturday afternoon is the party so I’ll see you soon!

My Last Day

Monday, April 25th, 2005

This is it, my last full day in Halifax. I’ll miss the friends I made here but thanks to the internet we can all still keep in touch. Really, I’m just glad to be going home and I’m glad to be finished school. Now maybe I can find some place to live for awhile so I’m not always thinking about moving. That would be novel indeed.

Wooowie!

Saturday, April 23rd, 2005

I was browing Yahoo and came across an article on a soundless sound system invented by Elwood Norris. It’s pretty darn cool, no one hears anything from it until a pad is aimed at the person. He suggested it would be great when one person wants to watch tv and another wants to read. The article then talked about his invention the AIRSCOOTER and wow!. It’s a recreational helicopter that you don’t need a pilot license to fly. There’s a little video that shows the Airscooter in flight, and it’s pretty neat.
I just thought I’d share, hopw you find them as intersting as I did.

Grades

Wednesday, April 20th, 2005

Well, grades were posted and I got straight A’s!! I do believe this is my fourth semester on the Dean’s list. Things seem to be going pretty well lately. I’m sure all that will change when I get to the airport because I have bad airport karma or something. But right now, I’m doing alright. Hey, maybe I should buy a lottery ticket. Nope, nope, can’t do that - still in Canadia.

Interview

Tuesday, April 19th, 2005

I had my phone interview with the costume design center in Colonial Williamsburg today. I think I was cheerful and eager. I have no idea what the other applicants are like so I can only hope that my charm won them over. Hmm, wonder if they did a background check and found this site….nothing to hold against me here.
I have to send a thanks to my mom who was, for once, answering the phone today (in case it was me, in tears) and so was able to redirct the interview phone call to me as I’m still in Halifax. Phew! That would have been rough.
Only one week left here. I did a preliminary testing of the luggage situation and it looks like i’ll be ok. If not, I’ve got some garbage bags on hand.

School Projects

Saturday, April 16th, 2005

I know everyone has been dying to see what I did at school. Well, now that I think about it, the people that read this site were probably sent an email with pictures already. If you did not receive said email it’s because I don’t like you. Hahaha, just kidding….yeah. This first picture is of a dress I draped in silk charmeuse. (that’s me in pink) It was lots of fun to wear. This second picture is of the suit I made, modeled by Shane. Thanks, Shane! I know, dark suit hard to see all the parts but I swear there is a waistcoat and breeches under that coat. Shane is also wearing a linen shirt and a stock around his neck that I made. The most common comment he made was “It’s really hot.” Yeah, that’s a lot of layers. Oh, and lets not forget the tights I made him wear. Hahahaha!
Now you ask, what will you be doing with this suit? Well, I plan to cover it and find it a nice place to stay in my closet until such time as it is needed again. Don’t ask me when that will be, I haven’t a clue. Perhaps I will alter it to fit me and I can wear it as a pirate costume……right.
Other news: I have 10 days left here. YES! I’ll be home soon guys and we’ll party it up! See you soon.

Movie

Wednesday, April 13th, 2005

Last night I went to see the movie Fever Pitch. This being the first movie I’ve seen in months I really hoped it would be good, and it was. I think i laughed the whole time, I think this may be my favorite Farrelly brothers’ film. So, if you get a chance go see it, have a laugh or five.

Other news:

My road to recovery is longer then I was expecting. If anyone knows any shortcuts please pass them along. I’ve been trying not to take naps so that I can sleep at night but um, it’s not working. Like right now, I’m actually asleep and my fingers are working completely independently of my brain. Amazing.
