Muffins

Sunday, July 31st, 2005

I’m making muffins for work tomorrow, my turn with coffee and snack duty. blah. Anyway, can’t be away from the kitchen for very long so I thought i’d update the ol’ blog. The weekend was good, if a bit rainy. I managed a bike ride yesterday morning then napped in the afternoon, watched a thunderstorm, helped a friend move her couch in, went to a little mini play at CW then home. It rained all day today so I decided to stay inside. I finally put up the rest of my posters and my cork board, took me long enough I know. I also chatted online, did some writing and cleaned the place. And that brings me back to the muffins. I’m making mini muffins so that I have enough for all the coworkers but as I have only one mini muffin pan it’s taking me forever to get them all made. argh. Back to the oven…

HOTTER

Wednesday, July 27th, 2005

The temperature is 104F and the head index is up to 112F. That’s 40 and 44 celsius. I got a ride home, no biking for me tonight.

HOT

Saturday, July 23rd, 2005

I was stupid and went biking this morning. I left my apartment normal and came back a cherry tomato. I saw some cyclists stopped by the side of the road while one of them puked. Got to love the heat, wait, no I don’t.

John Adams

Tuesday, July 19th, 2005

Sooo, Tom Hanks’ production company (the one that made Band of Brothers) is coming to Williamsburg in September to film an HBO 10 episode miniseries, John Adams. I plan on biking around on the weekends and checking out the filming as they plan on being in the historic area and around William and Mary. Just last year that new movie about John Smith and Pocahontas (real name was Matoaka) was filmed in Jamestown so if you go see it you’ll see what it looks like where I live….sort of, the geography at least. And next year make sure to watch the HBO miniseries:) Maybe I’ll get cable for a couple of months so I can see it too.

At Last!

Sunday, July 17th, 2005

I went on a bike ride this mourning before the humidity levels were too too high and finally remembered to get off my bike and take pictures. I’m only putting one up because I’m lazy. So here you go, this is what I saw this morning along the colonial pkwy. Oh yeah, this is Mill Creek.

If This is Torture, I Give Up!

Monday, July 11th, 2005

I am covered in mosquito bites. I didn’t think I had any dangerous secrets but someone out there is trying to make me crack and it’s working. Do you hear me? I give up! Please, just make the itching stop.

PS. CVS should deliver anti-itch cream to my door so I don’t have to put clothes on and go back out in the heat.

I Should Not Make Promises

Saturday, July 9th, 2005

So I said I would take pictures on todays bike ride and do you think that happened? That’s right, NOPE. I was just cycling along with a bunch of other people and stopping to take pics was just not going to happen. I have failed yet again. I should put up a picture of something just to make me feel better. Meh, too much effort.

The Weekend!!!

Friday, July 8th, 2005

Yea, it’s the weekend! I’ve already celebrated by going on a bike ride to Jamestown via the parkway. Only an hour but it was so nice. I saw two deer and an osprey with a fish in its talons. Tomorrow I’m off to Yorktown with some friends to do some biking around the battlefields and such. I’ll make sure to take pictures this time.

Fife and Drum Corps

Monday, July 4th, 2005

I FINALLY got to see the fife and drummers today and all the hype about them is for good reason, they are phenominal. (This is the group that mothers sign their sons up for as soon as they are born.) It was a very nice Fourth of July celebration here in Williamsburg, very patriotic and well, Colonial. Oh, also performing tonight were the Baroque Brass ensemble - again a group of kids playing outstanding music on valveless trumpets. Pretty neat night. I am, however, super tired as i walked a total of 4 miles and stood during the whole show. Wow, what a day!

Happy Fourth of July!!

Monday, July 4th, 2005

To celebrate the country’s independence and mine as well I decided to take a bike ride. 22 miles and 2 hours later I’m home, sweaty and feeling great. Incase you are wondering, I biked along the Colonial Parkway all the way to Jamestowne and then back again. 9 miles on the parkway each way and 2 miles to get to it from my place. Granted, there is a closer entrance to the parkway from my apt. but it’s off of 199 and I don’t mind saying I’m scared of biking on the interstate. Wow, what a day. I’m thinking I’ll take a quick little break and then maybe bike down Lake Powell Rd towards the winery.

I hope everyone else is having a marvelous day whatever they may be doing.

P.S. No, I didn’t take pictures, didn’t want to get off my bike because I was having too much fun.
