Bread and Bread II

Sunday, August 28th, 2005

I attempted to bake a loaf of bread this morning but some how I made something else altogether. Although this thing I made has edible elements in it it would be better suited for say, wedging under wobbly tables, coasters, and retiling my bathroom, then eating. this is why I am making Bread II. I will not be beaten by flour and yeast, I will prevail. and so, back to the kitchen

Busy Week

Saturday, August 27th, 2005

It’s been quite the week for me, I’ve met loads of new people, had visitors, gone to parties and I got some cool things to sew at work - red silk gown and a blue linen coat. Best of all, the weather has cooled off a lot, I wore jeans last night for the first time since I lived in Halifax. Ha, that reminds me. On Wednesday I was out with a friend and met some au pairs from Brazil and someone must have been telling them stories because the girls were worried about the winter here…in Virginia. Apparently, they were told that there were days when they wouldn’t be able to get out of their house or open the door. I laughed out loud, it was just too funny.

Hmmm, anything else amusing. Oh yes, my friend Alyce and I were sitting out on her porch last night when some roudy college students started yelling in the streets and what did she do? She yelled at them that there were other people living here. (here being her neighborhood) But what was funnier was that instead of yelling back a profanity or saying they’re sorry we heard “Are you alright? Seriously, are you ok?” It was just too much for us, we burst out laughing which totally ruined the image of the enraged neighbor. To top it off, they walked by her apartment and looked on the porch and to see if we were “normal people or college people.” We laughed harder at that. Now Alyce is the cranky, old neighbor who yells at people making noise at 10:30 at night.
Good times.

The Weather

Sunday, August 21st, 2005

Internet weather sites are great. My favorite thing to do is to check a whole bunch of them for my zip code because that way I’m bound to end up with a forecast that I like. Williamsburg on one site is hitting 98 BUT if I just click around to another site I’m down to 94. Today I’ll take the 94, I’ll also go for the prediction of T-storms later in the day because I want to get in a bike ride this morning. I like to think of the weather as a menu, today’s specials. Now what would I like for dessert???

No Sleep

Tuesday, August 16th, 2005

There was a big thunderstorm last night. It woke me up at 11:50 and I don’t remember falling back asleep….maybe I did but I certainly don’t feel like I got any shut-eye last night. Plus it feels abnormally dark this morning. I’m used to 6am being bright and now it feels like night still.

In other news my two brothers came to visit this weekend. We had some nice sibling bonding time. Friday was take out from the Green Leafe in Williamsburg. The food was oh so tasty. Saturday was Busch Gardens and we were smart enough to get there early, hit all the rides we wanted to go on and then leave before we died of heat stroke. Man, it was hot this weekend. My little brother and I endured a hot day in Colonial Williamsburg on Sunday. It was a good time though and we kept going in and out of air conditioned buildings so that was good. Then we had some lunch, went into Barnes and Nobles to cool off and then trudged our way back home where we promptly collapsed. Good times, good times.

My coffee is ready, I must go now and drink of that life giving serum.

Biking in Rain

Wednesday, August 10th, 2005

I got home yesterday and I wasn’t so wet but covered with road dirt. It was pretty gross, like sandpaper on my legs. Other then that it wasn’t so bad. I kept my sunglasses on so the rain drops wouldn’t get in my eyes, just needed little windshield wipers for them.
Hopefully it won’t rain today on my way home, hopefully. And tomorrow it doesn’t matter because i’m getting rides both ways. Can’t really pick my little brother up if I’m on a bike. Yea, visit from little brother and older brother this weekend. Sweet.

Grr

Does anyone know how to keep from waking up with a headache?

Sad

Wednesday, August 3rd, 2005

Last night was a rough one, I found out that two people I knew died. One was a girl I knew in high school and aftwards too. She was always happy, always friendly a good person. It’s not fair that she died while so many mean people live. The same can be said about the man too, he worked at the post office in my hometown, he too was a good person. And don’t anyone leave a comment like “life isn’t fair” because that is the worst cliche EVER and already at 24 I’m sick of hearing it.
