Something In the Air?

Tuesday, November 29th, 2005

So in the evenings and on weekend I work at a grocery store as a cashier and that’s where I was tonight. I don’t know if it’s because of all the high winds or the very warm weather at the end of Novemeber but everyone was in very flirtatious and or strange moods. For instance: one guy told me “you have a pretty face, you’ll never be useless.” This elicited the response of me growing very quiet and walking away so I didn’t say something rude and cliche about being more then a pretty face. I also had a nice run of very good looking guys coming through my line and I couldn’t help flirting, something I almost never get to do because of how busy it usually is when cute guys are in my line. Then I had a lady come through my line and tell me, out of the blue, that I am really pretty. A much nicer compliment then the aforementioned guy’s awkward statement.
To top the night off, a guy I had met during the summer came through my line and remembered me so of course I had to flirt with him for awhile. All in all, an excellent evening. (Barring, of course, the guy who tried to smack my leg as he walked by me. But later on I found a penny so I guess that evened it all out.)

Update

Friday, November 18th, 2005

It’s been awhile since I’ve written, and I’ve wanted to believe me, but I’ve been pretty busy. Here are some of the things I have wanted to share.

Last Friday I had the day off (Veteran’s Day) and I decided a bike ride is just what I needed. So, at 11 a.m. I left my house and then didn’t return til 3:30. I’m estimating I did about 40 miles. That assumes I was biking a measly 10 mph, which I probably wasn’t, but I thought I should err on the low side. I had a great time on my ride. I saw my first cotton field (picked one too) and ended up biking around a plantation along the James River. By the time I got back I was dragging so I took a nap and then went to work, work number 2 that is.

The other big thing is that my best friend is having her birthday f??te in D.C. on Saturday so I’ve been busy making her present, sewing my dress and oh yes, working every night to make up for the fact that I won’t be around this weekend.

I have pictures from the bike ride and I’m sure I’ll get pics from this weekend but give me some time to get them up before you start bugging me:)

Safety Pins Are Like Rabbits

Friday, November 11th, 2005

I straightened up my desk at work yesterday - seemed like the thing to do with a 3 day weekend ahead of me - and there were so many safety pins laying about. The only possible explanation I came up with that could account for such a huge number was that they were breeding. Breeding like rabbits. If you had seen my desk you would understand. They were under files, under shifts, under my sewing machine. I don’t use safety pins on a day to day basis, straight pins are my holding tool of choice so how else did they get there? Oh, and I think the safety pins are guilty of the genocide of my straight pins, or at least the brutal maiming of them. I’m down to about twenty straight pins and they all seem to have 9o degree angles in them. My desk is either a freak nursey or a warzone, either way I’m concerned.

Send donations to help with the survival of the endangered straight pin to ME.

Stupid Hollywood

I just saw the ad for the new Pride and Prejudice movie and I couldn’t make it through the entire preview. Modern hair! Modern speech! Modern movement! Oh it was painful, like the cover of a cheap romance novel extended into a movie. I’m going to have to watch the BBC version just to make myself feel better.
